Subscribers that might pay you a pittance.
Time versus money, people.
So, I bet you’re wondering how — and why — you’re sitting here reading this blog, listening to me carry on about my travels if I’m so vehemently against travel blogging.
The truth is this: I love to write.
I journal every morning, and I’ve done so for the past three years.
I’ve got a lot to say — about life. Specifically, my life… but also how it might brush up against yours.
It also just so happens that writing a blog online is a lot more space-saving than schlepping around a stack of journals while on the road.
And yes, you might stumble across the occasional tidbit about a great place to visit in Guatemala (or wherever else I land). That’s a happy accident, not the mission.
If I’m sitting in a little café somewhere, and their plato del día is so good it deserves a love letter — I’ll probably write about it.
But not because I’m trying to sell you on the restaurant.
Because it’s part of the story.
My hope is that, when you read, you can close your eyes and feel like you’re sitting across from me — coffee in hand, conversation unfolding, the sounds of life happening around us.

This isn’t a “Top Ten Things To Do” kind of space.
It’s a “Here’s What It Felt Like To Be There (And Maybe What It Taught Me)” kind of space.
Oh, and while we’re on the topic of blogs — let’s take a moment to appreciate that I’m forty and learning how to build a website for the first time. The last time I used this much “coding,” it was 2005 and I was carefully choosing my Top 8 friends on Myspace while deciding which Dashboard Confessional song would autoplay when someone visited my page. (obviously it was Hands Down)
So yes, I’m out here dusting off long-forgotten HTML skills and trying not to break the internet in the process.
I love travel blogs. I respect the work that goes into curating content, building websites, chasing followers, and optimizing SEO. But if that’s what you came here for…
You’ll be disappointed.
If I accidentally inspire you to book a flight, great — but mostly I’m just here trying to unpack my life, not my luggage.
